Relight The Light - Project
Our first Relight the Light project was born in January 2006 as a way to help out members of the Lighthouse Fellowship church in Buras, LA. Buras is where Hurricane Katrina made landfall and this community was totally devastated. No building was untouched and most were destroyed. This area was under water for 6 weeks. Most members of this church make a living in the water as fishermen, shrimpers and oystermen. So not only did the hurricane leave them homeless, it also took away their livelihood as their boats were damaged or destroyed. A lot of this area is still uninhabitable and its residents are spread throughout the southeast living with relatives. Most have received FEMA trailers but some are still waiting. The clean-up and rebuilding process is beyond what most people can even perceive. These people lost everything but their faith and spirit. This project's goal was to help the church, its members and the community get back on their feet again. As of October 15, 2006 we have finished the process of rebuilding and supplying the needs of Lighthouse Fellowship and will now be looking at other "Relight the Light" projects. Please contact us if you would like to contribute or help in any way on our future projects.

Jesus frees us from our burdens
A yoke (as pictured above) is a heavy wooden harness that fits over the shoulders of an ox or oxen. It is attached to a piece of equipment that the oxen are to bear the burden and pull. A person may be carrying heavy burdens of sin, excessive demands of religious leaders, oppression and persecution, or weariness in the search for God. Jesus frees people from all these burdens. The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God, not the end of all labor. A relationship with God changes meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.
